(October 25, 2007) --- The 2007 racing season has
been a year of firsts for young Daniel Baggerly. The young
sixteen-year-old made his Crate Late Model debut earlier this
season and entered his first Super Late Model races of his
young career on Saturday night, October 20. Daniel took some
time out of his busy schedule, which includes playing high
school football and maintaining teammate Larry Blankenship's
racecar, to get behind the wheel last Saturday at the 311
Speedway in Madison, North Carolina.
311 played host to a pair of 25-lap feature events last Saturday
and a $2,500 top prize was up for grabs in each A-Main. Daniel's
goal for his first Super Late Model race was modest, as he
wanted to get some quality seat time and bring his Barry Wright
car back to the shop in one piece. After getting his feet
wet in qualifying, Daniel started eleventh in the first consolation
event with only the top six transferring on to the feature.
He was able to pass five cars en route to capturing the sixth
and final transfer spot.
In the first 25-lap main event, Daniel kept his nose clean
and advanced thirteen positions to earn an impressive tenth
place finish in his first SLM event! After starting tenth
in the second $2,500 to win race, Daniel was running strong
until an unfortunate spin with only seven laps remaining.
The youngster was forced to retire with front suspension damage
and wound up sixteenth in the final rundown of the second
A-Main. Overall, Daniel and the entire team were very pleased,
as both goals were accomplished by the end of the evening!
